Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business or a related field
- 5+ years of in-house, broad-based working experience in traditional operations or Surface Land/Land Negotiator roles, or other relevant experience
- Williston Basin experience preferred
- Strong ability to work effectively and coordinate activities with other groups in field operations offices, and with other Land Personnel in Houston
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and reach closure within established timeframes
- Excellent verbal/written communication, organization and time management skills
- Excellent contract drafting skills
- Excellent business skills and strong ethics
- Possess strong negotiation skills as well as experience recognizing, analyzing, and resolving difficult negotiating situations
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary group to achieve project related goals
- Have understanding of applicable county, state and federal regulatory rules and procedures Strong PC skills, including MS Office Suite
- Collaborate with the Social Responsibility group to communicate/educate local stakeholder groups including Local and State staff as well as work with the community relations department and associated staff to maximize the presence of Statoil in the area
- Work with the local communities to promote brand recognition for Statoil by building relationships with media, businesses, and community members

- The broad scope of responsibilities will include the facilitation of all surface land-related activity/Community Relations within select Statoil Business Units. The Business Unit Surface Landman positions will include frequent interaction with the private landowners and govt. officials as necessary; coordinating with external brokers the acquisition of rights-of-way as well as surface related installations as needed; analysis, negotiation and preparation of various agreements, including surface leases, surface use agreements, SWD agreements Damage and Release Agreements and shared facility agreements – task may include including settling damages and securing access rights; active input and participation in the decision making process of various projects; and coordinating the activity of field landmen when needed. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and application of land and negotiating principles, theories and concepts; and have a wide understanding of how Land interacts, advises and collaborates with drilling, engineering, operations, legal, regulatory and other professional groups
